The high altitude, temperate climate, and rich soil of Guatemala result in the production of outstanding washed arabica coffees. Unique to Guatemala coffee production is the burning of pitch to prevent frost damage, which both protects the plants and imparts a distinctive taste to the coffee. As a result, Guatemalan coffee is often considered one of the most flavorful “new world” coffees.
Guatemalan coffee is very complex, lively, and aromatic, with pronounced acidity. These coffees have a mild distinctive smoky flavor, with a medium to full body.
